Back to the Albertane Tour Reviews
Sunny2's Seattle Review
July 21, 1998
You are about to read the most memorable and incredible experience of
my entire exsistence on earth. But before I reveal my fabulous time
at the concert, I think I should just say that Planet Hollywood
Seattle was right next to our hotel and although we missed the press
conference, I got to sit in the same booth as Hanson did just a few
hours before!!!!! Anyway, myself, my sister, her friend and her
mother and my mother all arrived at Key Arena about 6:15. As we
stepped out of the taxi, I was so amazed by the huge amount of fans
outside! Everywhere I turned there was a girl with a Hanson t-shirt.
We made our way to this big booth selling Hanson stuff and I got a
cool fitted Hanson t-shirt and a necklace/badge thingie that looked
like a backstage pass! We stood around for a while and then I
noticed that they had opened the doors to the Arena and a big line
had formed. I yelled for my mother to follow, and we raced down the
stairs to the entrance. After giving her our tickets we went in and
found or awesome FLOOR seats and gawked at the massive place. We
made a comprimise with my sister's friend Heidi and her mom, to let
us sit in their second row seats for the first hour and a half!!!!!!!
I was sooooooo excited, I was like so close to the stage! I chatted
with some girls behind me who had been to the press conference.
After Admiral Twin finished, ( they are awesome!!) Everyone started
to chant: HANSON, HANSON, HANSON!!!! We were getting very impatient.
As we were chanting, the stage management dropped a big gray curtain
in front of the stage while they put up the set. THe set consisted
of three big pyramids with Hanson logos on top and an Albertane Tour
98 curtain hanging down. When they brought out Zac's drums and Tay's
keyboards, all 15,000 of us screaming, fanatical, Hanson fans
shrieked so loudly I thought my eardrums would burst. Suddenly, the
lights went out and another shriek of volume pierced my ears.
Curtain up, stage lights on, and Hanson ran on to the
stage!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I saw them in person right then, I was so
excited I almost puked! Tay said hello to everyone and they said how
much they loved Seattle. Their first song was "Gimme Some Lovin/
Shake your Tailfeathers". I could barely hear them the screams were
so loud! I could not believe how incredibly close I was to them! I
was literally 10 ft. away! I could see Ike really well since he was
on our side and I could see Tayl really well too. I was so close I
could like see every facial expression TAy made and stuff! It was so
amazing! He also kept looking over at me and smiling!!! Poor Zac
was back behind his drums and yu could barely see his head! Next
came thinking of you, where's the love, weird, river, and a cover
song. After that, they did a quick set change. I quickly realized
that a stage hand had moved Zac's other drums over to our side of the
stage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were also moved forward so I was so close I
could practically touch them! Just my luck, (you wont believe this)
Here comes my sister's friend Heidi and her mom ready to switch seats,
just when Zac was going to be a foot away from me and I could
declare my love to him! I was so upset I started crying. I still
had to go. Hanson started up again while me and my sister
frantically pushed passed this huge fat lady to get to my mother in
the 25 row. I could still see ok, but this stupid girl kept holking
up her dumb sign! I wanted to punch her. My spirits were revived
when they started a song called "Money" and Zac sang the first part
lead!!!!!! You know, " The best things in life are free!" part. His
voice is os deep and awesome!! After, while Tay was talking or
something, the girls were we were in row 2 waved at Zac and he waved
back and smiled huge! ANd to think I could have been there too,
still. They sang "Look at you", and Sometimes. They sounded awesome
of course! Then they did another set change back to the original, so
Zac's other Albertane drums were back in the middle. They came back
on with these huge super soakers and water balloons and sprayed the
front. (I wasn't up there, GGGGRRRR)
Next came Soldier and Minute without You and more that I don't
remember what order. They sounded totally wonderful!!! Then Tay
goes over to Zac and takes over the drums and Ike takes over Tay's
keyboards while Zac goes over to teh side we were on in 2nd, and
gives teh girl that was right in front of me his
drumsticks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to be conceited or anything, but if
I'd still been up there I bet he might have given them to me instead!
Then to our total surprise, the three of them said thank you and
goodnight and left the stage! Everyone started screaming and
chanting again, and then suddenly yu hear Zac's voice from backstage
say, " You want us back?!" (screams) "Are you sure?!" (major
screams) YEAH!! Then Zac comes runnign out with his soaker, running
and squirting the front. (sigh) Tay comes on with an even bigger
soaker and Zac squirted Tay! They said that since we were such a
good crowd, they'd play a few more songs! They did MMMbop, Man from
Millwaukee and something else. Sounded fabulous! Then for the sort
of finaly, they did an a cappella version of weird! It was soooo
sweet, they all stood together with one mic. Then they grabbed each
others hands and bowed three times. They thanked us and said
goodnight to Seattle and the last thing I saw was cute Zac walking
offstage with his hair swinging behind him. I was so happy i was
there, I started bawling! I was also sad that they were gone. We
left in the taxi, and all the way down the street I heard "Hanson
rocks, and we love you !!!!!!!!!!" And with a final " I LOVE YOU
ZAC!" from me, we turned the corner. It was the best night of my
life and I just want to say that HANSON SERIOUSLY ROCKS AND SEEING
THEM LIVE IS THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR EYES. I LOVE YOU, MAN!
Other stuff:
Tay took off his sparkly blud shirt, but didn't throw it in the audience
They threw their water bottles into the audience
Tay held out his mic and had everyone sing "there aint no cure for
the summertime blues!"
Zac had his cool light up drumsticks! and got the crowd to wave their
hands up alot!
