TCI Music's SonicNet to Cybercast Exclusive Bob Weir/Hanson Concert on Thursday, February 18th; Event of the Year Recorded Live at Wetlands, NYC

NEW YORK and SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The speculation abounded when Wetlands announced their 10th Anniversary celebration and advertised The Grateful Dead's Bob Weir and "Special Guests." The list of possibilities was endless, considering Weir's status and Wetland's history, a history that includes helping to launch the careers of artists such as Dave Matthews, Blues Traveler, Hootie and the Blowfish, Pearl Jam, Sublime and Oasis. By the time Weir took the stage Saturday night, the rumors were out of control: Springsteen would be playing. Dylan was doing the encore.

Instead, Bob Weir was joined on stage by Hanson, who performed five songs, including "All Along the Watchtower" and "One More Saturday Night." And as unexpected as Hanson's appearance was, it didn't diminish the significance of Weir's show, an intimate evening with a musical legend. Wetlands owner Pete Shapiro, who conceived of the unusual pairing said, "It was a magical moment, something that the people who were there will remember for the rest of their lives. To have the essence of counterculture in America onstage with the epitome of American pop music at Wetlands at 2:00 in the morning was very surreal."

The New York Times today described Weir's performance as "spirited" and "enlivened." In addition to Hanson, Weir was joined by Rob Wasserman, Jay Lane -- and a crew from SonicNet. And on Thursday, February 18th at 8:00 p.m. EST, SonicNet will cybercast the night's performance in its entirety at http://www.sonicnet.com.
