Andrea's Milwaukee Review
July 25, 1998

The day began like any other, nothing special. So, I left the house with my parents a liltle after 5 o'clock & picked up my best friend Amber. When we got to Milwaukee (I live in Waukesha) we had to get something from my Grandma's apartment. On our way there we saw a bunch of kids dressed in black & scary looking. My dad said said "that's Hanson's new look," "Dad!" I say, Amber goes "They're getting ready for Metallica," & I said "yeah, they're here real early," because they came the next day.

Looking for parking wasn't fun because we never had parked in the lot we were looking for. My aunt's boss gave his employees tickets & a parking book for Summerfest. She had only used one, so we borrowed it for tonight. Where we parked was only accross a liltle street to the Marcus Amphitheatre.

Lots of people were there for the concert & Germanfest which was going on. Fortunately, our tickets got us free admission in. As we were going to the gates, a guy with beer in a champagne glass was swaying back and forth towards me. He kinda freaked me out. We then had to wait in line to get dinner, a brat & soda in English for us. After my dad left to get something else to eat, my mom noticed we were sitting at a handicapped table. My mom places things over the symbol, takes it away and says, "oh, we didn't know,". She then places the liltle packages over the symbol, creating the symbol, makeing it more obvious.

When Amber & I left, we went to find the restrooms. There was two huge lines for it. I couldn't believe it so I didn't go. We then went to the t-shirt stand. I was waiting for two minutes, at the front, before the guy noticed me. Hello people! I got a program and a shirt, which is the "white t-shirt" if you go or have gone.

We then entered the ampitheatre. We had section 7, row J. It was a liltle after 7, so we talked. There were these spurts of screams while we were waiting. I'm convinced some of the girls ate plain sugar before they came. At 7:28 Admiral Twin came out. After about 3 songs, or 4, we found out we were in section 8. Let me tell you, section 7 is much better. When Amber came back from the restroom, she said the guy at the end of the row was sleeping! After 25 min., Admiral Twin left. After every song was done on the tape they were playing, everyone would scream in hopes of them starting. That part was boring.

At 8:28 Hamson started playing. Everybody was screming their heads off. They started with "Gimme Some Lovin' ", "Thinking of You", "Where's the Love", "River", & "Weird". The screaming was extremely loud loud & I could hardly hear Zac's parts in ToY & WtL. We were all swaying our hands during "Weird" when I noticed a girl a couple rows in front of me had a lighter in her hand & was inches away of buring her friend. No one was sitting next to me or for a ways on Amber's side which was great because periodically throughout the show, the dad in front of me and I couldn't see a thing. Then Hanson's like "bye" & "see ya" and leave. Everybody started screaming & then booing. (seriously) A crew in red changed the scenery. I noticed them during "Weird" and was wondering what they were up to.

Then Hanson came out. Duh. Amber had asked me if they were going to tell us stories and I said yeah. Ironically, their first song was Stories. After that, I lost track of the order of songs for a while. The worst part was that you couldn't hear what they were saying when they were talking. They told us to be quiet a couple of times, everybody was silent, and started screaming the moment the resumed their talking. The song they played in that stage and their normal stage was: "Madeline", "With You in Your Dreams", "Sometimes", "Soldier", "More Than Anything", "A Minute Without You", "Speechless", "I Will Come To You", a song I don't know, & a song that "we've never played before, but decided" was all I could make out from the screaming. One of the last 2 listed was the one where Taylor played the drums while Zac squritted people. They then played the most obvious "MMMBop", and for us a song, as Taylor said, "is dedicated to eveyone who lives in Milwaukee," "Man From Milwaukee". Everytime Zac was one the screen everyone would scream. Poor Zac didn't know that, so he gave us looks that said he thought we were insane. You could barely, again, make out his special part in MFM which I was angry about. They then left.

We all of couse started screaming Hanson. They came out, welcomed by the loudest sreams ever, because Zac and Isaac were wearing cheeseheads!!! Taylor put Ike's on & then gave it back to him. I don't remember what they did with them. I remembered seeing 2 people with "Jump Here" signs and I was sure they died and went to heaven. Zac and Taylor were talking about one girls sign (if I could only hear) & started squirting people's signs. "We didn't have anything else to do," Isaac said & they played "Look At You", "Summertime Blues", and the accapella part from "Weird". They then told us they'd see us and left for good.

The concert was great except for the not hearing when they talked. You know who told us "You're an amazing crowd, so amazing that's it's frighing" or something, lots of "You're cool", "You rock", "come on", "sing", "clap", "jump", "wave your hands", and etc.

There was a huge line to get out, so we took a shortcut which lead us to a group of people hanging over a railing. We were lucky to be hanging over the railing. Then a group of people came around us & we couldn't move even if we wanted to. This girl next to me asked the guy below if he told Hanson their message. She never belived him until he said "from Jamie, Natasha, and someone else, right?". A girl behind me shouted "Natalie! He didn't even get our names right!" "Well, he got Jamie right. As long as you got my name right" the girl next to me said. Jamie then was telling the guy how she didn't have a ride home, so she'd stay here until they came. They guy told to start walking home & Jamie said Hanson would give her a ride home. When we found out they wouldn't be leaving for an hour and were eating pizza, Jamie screamed "Zac, put the pizza down & get out here" a couple of times. By then, someone was pulling my right side of my hair & a girl was pushing my left side of my hair back so she could see nothing. The section where I was screamed Hanson a couple times, but no one anywhere else picked up what we were doing. Then, another guy came out and told us in groups that we had to leave. We found our Taxi sign area where we were going to meet my parents. A girls told us we were weird beacuse Amber gave her a weird look. I said she's weird for saying we're weird! When my parents came, we left to sleep & live our normal routine.
