KT's Detroit Palace Review
July 28, 1998
I went to the Detroit/Palace of Auburn Hills concert. I went with my
friend, Andrea. She doesn't really like Hanson, but I begged her. I went
through alot trying to get tickets, but I did get them. Anyways, I
stayed with Andrea's family for a few days since she lives an hour away
and I live 4 hours away.
We left at 5:30. We wanted to leave at 4:00, but it didn't work out.
When we got there at about 6:45, we started cracking up at some of the
cars that had "Hanson Rocks," "We love Ike, Tay, and Zac" stuff written
all over. We laughed even more at all the girls covered in Hanson stuff.
We almost went dressed like Marilyn Manson freaks to scare the
teenyboppers, but we couldn't get the t-shirts, so we dressed normal. We
got in and I had to have my little bag checked. I had my camera in there
that doesn't work. The guy told me I had to take the batteries out. I
told him and showed him that it didn't work, but he still made me take
them out. I had another camera hidden under my discman and CD's, so I
was able to sneak that in.
I then bought a program which cost me $15. I thought that was a bit of
a rip-off. Then, I bought 2 pairs of earplugs because we wanted to save
our hearing. I bought a really bad pair of bonoculers for $10. We found
our seats, which were in the Section 119. If only my camera had a zoom
on it. I would of had great pictures.
I didn't really care for Admiral Twin. Their music just didn't agree
with me. Andrea didn't like them, either.
When they finished, Andrea and I listened to a little bit of the Squirrel
Nut Zippers. You've probably never heard of them, but they're awesome!
Kinda swing-ish music.
When Hanson came out, I thought I was going to go deaf. The sound was
so loud. I stood up and Andrea stayed seated. I didn't really dance or
scream to anything. I stayed pretty quiet.
When "Weird" came on, I brought out my lighter and waved it around. I
did the same for "With You In Your Dreams" and "I Will Come To You".
I thought that "More Than Anything" was awesome. I almost had tears
coming down my cheeks. Even Andrea liked it.
When "Soldier" played, my section went crazy. I really like that song,
too. I even cheered. :-)
They chnaged "Look At You." I didn't know that, but I was kinda glad
since I thought Zac's little solo thing was pretty stupid.
They didn't play "Two Tears," which upset me. I really like that song.
Well, in my opinion, the concert was OK. I don't think I can ever go to
a teenybopper concert again. My hearing is already screwed up from
swimming so much and I don't want to ruin it anymore. But, I think I
would see Hanson again, just with a much better set of ear plugs.
